Do you have an idea how you can make a difference to your area ? Do you often think to yourself – if only we had a garden bench / raised plant bed / cycle parking at my block it would make a real difference? Then you will be pleased to know residents have a Community Chest fund of £10,000 every year to spend on community based projects. Working with our Residents Operations Board in the last couple of years schemes that have been funded include:
- Communal garden improvements – wooden pergolas for the patio to provide shade and interest, sheds for residents garden equipment, raised beds to enable those with limited mobility to garden, fruit trees & installing patios. Bringing an unloved bit of garden back into use by refreshing the planting scheme. This year for example we are remodelling an area used to store the blocks bins, removing ugly brick walls & installing raised planted beds. This should prevent the area being fly tipped, give residents a pleasant view from their properties, bringing colour & interest to what was a drab, unpleasant area.
- Outdoor gym equipment – for example pull up bars ( for children & adults ), outdoor table tennis tables on unused drying areas.
- Cycle racks. Removing redundant bin stores & installing secure cycle parking.
- Resident events such estate fun days or fitness classes.
